A Zombieshops Editorial

I have long joked about the Zombiepocalypse, and that really is one of the reasons that I started this blog and on-line shop.

But Zombies can mean any number of things - From Earthquakes to Tornadoes and yes, to the walking dead   wandering your neighborhood looking for brains to eat.

But in reality, what this web site is all about, is to get your focus on surviving a hardship caused by man kind or mother nature.

Today, I would like to talk about a word that I believe we in society have neglected.

And this discussion is brought forward because of a number of sad events that have recently happened.

Responsibility

From an early age, we have all gotten some sort of responsibility.

Clean up your room - take out the trash - do the dishes - These are all daily responsibilities that many of us learned at an early age.

With responsibilities also comes privileges.

Do you remember after going though drivers education and taking your drivers test - well you probably demonstrated good responsibilities and were given the privilege of driving the car.

Wisconsinites recently were given a great privilege when the state became the 49th state to allow concealed carry of a weapon. (CCW)

Why - One word

Responsibility

I, and I alone can only guarantee my safety - I have a responsibility to my-self and to the ones I love to offer protection from all things bad that can happen.

I cannot fall to the popular belief that the Police and Fire Department will always be there to safeguard my livelihood.

I must undertake the necessary training and make a responsible decision to protect my-self.

Society must also learn about responsibility - All too often, when something happens, we can almost always come up with who or what is to blame.

When it comes to firearms related deaths - it is always the "gun" that gets blamed.
Not the responsibilities of the person involved.

Yes, gun owners can be neglectful and that is the by-product of not knowing your responsibilities of gun ownership.

Without looking this up on google - can you name the 4 golden rules of firearms safety.

All too often, we forget that firearms related deaths are often caused by negligence and also more recently from criminal activities.

Society can be partially to blame for some of these deaths.

Think back the past 20-40 years - sure we had Dirty Harry, John Wayne and other movies that had gun violence to a small degree, but we also had Pac-Man and Pong on our video games

Today's youth does not understand the meaning of responsibilities

Look over the video games that we have today and you will find many first person shooter type games that glorify violence and criminal activity.

The same is said for many of the past few years popular movies and TV shows and some current music - Our society does not respect the responsibilities of gun ownership.

One of the big problems today with society is that we do not know how to handle every day social interactions.

I am guilty of giving someone the finger or yelling at them when they drive slow or cut me off in traffic and I will bet that many of you reading this will say the same thing - but the biggest hurdle we have with our society in general is that sometimes we do not know how to handle what is real and what we see in our fantasy worlds of video games and tv/movies.

Today, we often realize too late that violence has real life consequences that the video games we mimic do not portray.

and when you think of these things - you also realize that too a certain degree, we as a society also do not Respect one another or have Civility to Respect one another.

Every day that our society sees a death related to Gun violence is a sad day - But we must remember that it is not the gun that causes this violence - It is the lack of Responsible Behavior that has caused that violence.

Stronger Gun Laws and more Gun Bans will not reduce these problems

People need to step up and start claiming Responsibility.

Be Responsible for your safety and well-being.

Don't become a COWARD and commit a senseless act of violence.

Gun Ownership is a privilege and major Responsibility - You must show it Respect.

Ownership of a firearm is an individuals Decision and again Respect must be shown of that individual, and even more so, I Respect the person that does not own a firearm and would hope that they show Respect to those that have taken on the Responsibility to be Law Abiding Citizens that have shown their Responsibility for the privilege of firearms ownership.
